Editor tools

The toolbar controls how you draw and edit on the canvas. Pick a tool, click or drag on the arena, and use the panels for details.

Drawing tools

Select

Select and move objects on the course plan. Nudge a selection with the arrow keys (hold Shift for a larger step).

Symbol

Place fences and other symbols from the library. Pick a symbol in the panel and click the canvas to place it. Step by step: Place obstacles.

Text

Add text labels. Double-click or press Enter on selected text to edit.

Freehand

Draw freehand lines and shapes.

Ride path

Draw the ride path between fences. Length and time allowed are tied to the class settings and can be shown with placeholders. Step by step: Measure the ride path.

Measure

Drag a line between two points to see the distance in metres. Move the endpoints if you want to adjust it. The line is an aid on the canvas and is not included in export or print.

This is not the same as Show distances between obstacles under Display, which draws distances between numbered fences. See Place obstacles.

Shapes

Open the shapes menu and choose:

• Rectangle
• Rounded rectangle
• Ellipse
• Line
• Arrow

Drag on the canvas to create the shape.

Image

Insert an image file onto the course plan (for example a logo or background detail).

Toolbar panels

These open settings panels instead of drawing directly:

Arena

Arena dimensions, shape, and meter grid. This is where you set the to-scale surface.

Class

Class details: rulebook, height, judgement, speed, and time allowed. Place class info on the course plan when you need it visible. Step by step: Class and placeholders.

Competitions

Manage the day’s classes. Available on base plans — use when several classes share the same layout.

Settings

Course plan and document settings.

Display

What is shown on the canvas (guides, layers, and similar display options). How to choose what is included on export: Display and export.

Panels and rulebook

• Show/hide left panel and right panel — free up space on the canvas.
• Rulebook issues — when rulebook warnings exist, a shortcut appears in the toolbar.

Edit

Undo and Redo are buttons in the toolbar and in the Edit menu. They step back or repeat the latest change on the course plan.

Flip and tilt

Select one or more objects. Flip horizontal and Flip vertical in the toolbar mirror the selection around its centre, and the angle follows.

Tilt the selection with Alt/Option and the left or right arrow: 1° per press, 15° if you hold Shift. Ride paths are not tilted this way. On a single object you can also set Angle (°) in the right panel — ‹ and › step by 90°. More about fences: Place obstacles.

Navigate the canvas

• Pan — hold Space and drag (or use middle mouse / trackpad). Pan is not a separate toolbar mode.
• Zoom with trackpad or scroll wheel depending on your device.

Export

When the course plan is ready you can export to PNG or PDF. See Export.
